Evening all,
Apologies for the radio silence
recently – I’m afraid that the blog hasn’t been the most important thing on my
mind recently. That said, I’m not really sure what has been more important
recently. I think that I’ve just been lazy and a little bit uninspired
recently. No matter – I’m back and here to kick blogging’s arse!
A little bit of an update on my
life and where I’ve been at recently. I’ve just finished a very long week at
work after 9 days sunning myself in Southern France. A very good friend of mine
has a villa down there in the middle of the French countryside, about an hour’s
drive from Nice and St Tropez. It’s a beautiful place which offers amazing
views and the perfect place to sunbathe every day for a week. Ten of us went to
stay for the week and only knocked back 160 bottles of wine…at home…not
counting any wine drunk whilst out for dinner etc. It works out as roughly 2
bottles per person, per day. That’s not that bad is it…is it?!
To make ourselves feel better, we
reminded ourselves of a little mantra – “I’m not an alcoholic. Alcoholics go to
meetings. I’m a drunk. We go to parties”. We’re all going to alcoholic hell
aren’t we?
The holiday was very quiet and
relaxed, save the Wednesday which shall forever be known as breakages day. To
put this into context, please see what we managed to break in 24 hours:
- · A plate
- · A vase
- · A sunlounger
- · 2 toe bones in three places
- · The axel on the hire car
How we managed to back it back
alive with 10 people I will never know! I also badly bruised my friends rib, so
it was a pretty eventful day all round. During the rest of the week we took in
St Tropez, St Maxine, Paris and Disney Land (Yes, I’m 26 and officially that
cool!) All in all, a much needed and well deserved holiday! The suntan is also
to die for and returning to the office in a crisp white shirt on the Tuesday
morning was a reward unto itself.
In terms of the rest of my life,
there’s not much to report. Love life is non-existant, work is ongoing and my
social life continues at a pace. One pleasing factor is that my money situation
is much improved. I’m budgeting properly, and save odd expenses coming up which
can’t be accounted for (Like paying for a new passport etc), I’m actually doing
alright. I’m by no means loaded, but I don’t have an overdraft anymore and I’m
working hard to save the pennies for a rainy day.
One big change is that I’ve
decided I want to become more involved in the world of journalism, especially
around online writing and magazine writing. As such, if you (or any one you
know) is looking for a freelance writer to provide some witty comment then
please do get in touch – I’d love to hear from you and work to really make an effort
on this.
That’s about it for now. I’m off
to the pub this evening for a catch up with some old work friends from my
Topshop days which’ll be lovely. I then have a long week of fun things to keep
me entertained, but don’t worry – I’ll be sure to blog more too.
Much love for now,
x
